What a real reading includes
A substantive online BaZi reading covers: your four pillars with an explanation of each; your Day Master and its strength (with the reasoning — season, support, opposition); the five-element balance; the ten gods in your chart mapped to career, wealth and relationships; and your ten-year luck cycles with starting ages.
Readings that stop at 'you are a Fire Horse, so you are passionate' are zodiac entertainment, not a BaZi reading.
Red flags
No birth time requested (a quarter of the chart is missing — and no mention of what that costs). No mention of true solar time for births in far-western timezones. Fear-based upsells ('you have a curse, pay to remove it'). Guaranteed predictions ('you will marry in 2027'). Real BaZi reads structure and tendency; it does not traffic in fear or false precision.
What it should cost
Automated chart-plus-interpretation services typically run $10–30. Human practitioner readings range from $50 to several hundred depending on depth. Free charts exist — check whether they correct for true solar time before trusting the pillars.
